Tor and Martin were one of my wedding couples at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve quite a few years ago, so you can imagine how delighted I was when Tor got back in touch to ask for help planning a family holiday. Here’s what they had to say about their incredible Easter trip to Mauritius...
We’ve just returned from the most amazing holiday in Mauritius during the Easter school holidays and I can honestly say it was one of the best family experiences we’ve ever had. From start to finish Nikki was absolutely fantastic.
When I first reached out, I wasn’t even sure where I wanted to go. I just knew I wanted sunshine, fun and good food. Nikki took all the stress away and came back with brilliant suggestions. I loved the little touches she added too, like the welcome pack with our itinerary and luggage labels. It instantly made everything feel organised and special.
Initially, we weren’t sure if my husband could join us, but Nikki planned everything so flexibly that adding him later was no problem at all. That alone was a huge relief.
From the moment we landed, everything ran like clockwork. We were met by the transfer company with cold bottles of water and all our luggage was whisked away for us. We didn’t have to lift a finger. By the time we arrived at the Radisson, our bags were taken care of while we were greeted with warm cookies and a refreshing local drink.
Reception asked if we were celebrating and when we said yes, they pulled out all the stops. Our room was decorated with towel swans, chocolates, Champagne, and more treats waiting for us whenever we returned. The welcome was so genuine, we felt like VIPs from the moment we checked in.
The hotel itself was perfect for families. There was a relaxed kids’ club where the children could pop in whenever they wanted without needing to pre-book. It was flexible, fun, and gave us the option of some downtime too. The staff were endlessly friendly, always smiling, and nothing was too much trouble.
Food was another highlight. There was so much choice every day, with plenty of veggie options too. I actually came home feeling energised and healthier than ever thanks to the variety of delicious, fresh meals. The whole resort was so enjoyable that we barely wanted to leave, but we did venture out on two brilliant excursions that Nikki organised through the same company who handled our transfers.
The first was a private island tour taking in all the key sights of Mauritius. The second was a visit to the tea plantations where, as a tea lover, I was in heaven. I worried the kids might get bored, but they adored sampling the different blends and came away sharing my love for it. Those days out really made the holiday feel extra special.
The accommodation was first rate too. I used to backpack years ago, so luxury travel was new to me. Honestly, I didn’t know where to start with planning a family holiday like this, which is why I’m so glad I’d been following Nikki’s Facebook page and website. I knew it was time to let an expert handle it, and I’ll never go back to planning everything myself.
Even when things didn’t go to plan, we were looked after. On the return journey we had a technical issue that meant we missed our connection in France. Air France were brilliant, rebooking everything and taking care of us, so there was no need to panic. It was reassuring to know that even in tricky situations, there’s always someone ready to help, whether it’s the airline, the hotel, or of course Nikki, who kept checking in on us.
One of our top tips would be to always check what inflight entertainment is available before you travel. Our outbound flight didn’t have seatback screens that had interactive games for children, so be prepared with tablets, games and activities to keep the kids busy.
Our holiday was perfect from start to finish. Nikki made the whole process stress-free, and I can’t imagine travelling without her help now. She is brilliant, knowledgeable and fabulous at what she does.
If you’re even thinking about a trip, stop scrolling endless websites and just get in touch with her. We can’t wait to plan our next adventure with Nikki at NC Travel.
