Whether you’re after sun, snow, sea or city, there are still plenty of brilliant places where your money really stretches - and I’ve rounded up 21 of them.
These aren’t just cheap-and-cheerful fly-and-flop spots. They’re full of culture, food, scenery and adventure - and they won’t cost a fortune once you’re there. Whether you want a European escape, a long-haul adventure or somewhere a little different, there’s something in here for you.

1) Bardonecchia, Italy

If you love skiing but not ski resort prices, Bardonecchia is a hidden gem. Tucked away in the Italian Alps near the French border, it’s got well-groomed slopes, short lift queues and a relaxed vibe. Ideal for beginners and families, but with enough to challenge more experienced skiers too. It's also less touristy, so prices stay sensible.
