Nikki's guide on where to honeymoon in April

April is one of my favourite months to plan honeymoons. It sits in that golden window where spring unfolds across the northern hemisphere, dry seasons linger in tropical paradises, and wildlife viewing peaks in some of the world’s most spectacular destinations.
As a UK-based honeymoon specialist, I’ve sent countless couples off in April and watched them come back with exactly the kind of trip they’d hoped for. Romantic, well-timed, and without the heavy crowds you get later in the year.
The key with April is timing. Easter can push prices up and availability down, so if you can travel just outside that window, you will usually find better value and a much more relaxed experience.
Let me walk you through the destinations that genuinely shine in April.
Africa
Morocco

April is Morocco’s sweet spot. Expect daytime temperatures around 23 to 26 degrees, with plenty of sunshine and comfortably cool evenings. You can wander through the souks of Marrakech, explore the blue streets of Chefchaouen or head into the Atlas Mountains where spring brings colour and freshness to the landscape.
Why it works for honeymooners:
Morocco is all about contrast. One day you are enjoying rooftop dining in a riad, the next you are drifting over desert landscapes or watching the sunset over the dunes. It feels different, immersive and incredibly romantic without being overly polished.
Adding Essaouira gives you a relaxed coastal balance, perfect for slowing things down together.
South Africa

April marks autumn in South Africa, with temperatures typically between 20 and 25 degrees and a dry, comfortable climate. The light turns golden, the pace slows, and it is one of the most enjoyable times to explore the country. You can combine Cape Town, the Winelands and safari all in one seamless trip. The Winelands are in harvest season, and Kruger offers excellent wildlife viewing.
Why it works for honeymooners:
Few destinations give you this level of variety in one trip. City, wine and safari all flowing naturally together. It feels like a journey rather than just a holiday, which makes it incredibly special for a honeymoon. Adding Victoria Falls gives you that real wow moment to finish.
Indian Ocean
Seychelles

April is one of the best months to visit the Seychelles, with temperatures around 29 to 30 degrees, low humidity and calm seas. It is ideal for snorkelling, relaxing, and enjoying the islands at their best.
Why it works for honeymooners:
This is barefoot luxury. Quiet beaches, crystal-clear water and complete privacy. It is all about switching off and just enjoying each other without distractions. Island hopping adds variety without losing that relaxed feel.
Maldives

April sits at the end of the dry season, with temperatures around 30 to 32 degrees and plenty of sunshine. Sea conditions are calm, and underwater visibility is excellent.
Why it works for honeymooners:
This is the classic honeymoon destination for a reason. Overwater villas, private dining and total seclusion. It is designed for romance and doing absolutely nothing, beautifully.
April also often gives slightly better value than peak months.
Asia
Japan

April brings mild temperatures of around 12 to 18 degrees and beautiful spring conditions. Cherry blossom season transforms the country, creating one of the most iconic travel experiences in the world.
Why it works for honeymooners:
It is romantic in a completely different way. Quiet moments, cultural experiences and those fleeting cherry blossom scenes that feel really special. It is not just a holiday, it is something you remember forever.
Bali

April marks the start of Bali’s dry season, with temperatures around 28 to 30 degrees and lower humidity. The island feels fresh, green, and ready to explore.
Why it works for honeymooners:
Bali is built for romance. Private villas, jungle views, beach clubs and spa experiences. It is easy to tailor and gives you that luxury feel without being complicated. Adding nearby islands can make it feel even more exclusive.
Thailand

April is hot, with temperatures often reaching 30 to 35 degrees, but the Gulf islands offer some of the best conditions. Calm seas and sunshine make it ideal for beach time.
Why it works for honeymooners:
Thailand gives you flexibility. You can combine culture, city life and beaches in one trip. It suits couples who want a bit of everything rather than just one experience.
Europe
Italy

April offers mild temperatures around 15 to 20 degrees, ideal for exploring and enjoying outdoor life. Cities feel alive again and the countryside starts to bloom.
Why it works for honeymooners:
It is classic romance without the crowds. You can take your time, enjoy long meals and really soak it all in. It feels relaxed and authentic, which is exactly what you want on a honeymoon.
Greece

April brings temperatures of around 18 to 22 degrees, with fewer tourists and a more authentic feel. The islands begin to open up and feel welcoming again.
Why it works for honeymooners:
You get Greece before the rush. Quiet streets, uninterrupted sunsets and a much more personal experience. It feels genuine rather than busy.
Caribbean and Central America
Caribbean Islands

April offers temperatures of around 28 to 30 degrees, with calm seas and plenty of sunshine. After Easter, the atmosphere becomes more relaxed with fewer crowds.
Why it works for honeymooners:
You get that perfect mix of relaxation and choice. Stunning beaches, great resorts and the option to explore or simply unwind. It is easy, reliable, and romantic.
Mexico

April is warm and dry, with temperatures around 28 to 32 degrees and ideal conditions for exploring. You can visit ruins, cenotes, and beaches all in one trip.
Why it works for honeymooners:
It offers more than just a beach. Culture, adventure and luxury all come together, making it perfect for couples who want variety.
Hawaii

April sees temperatures in the mid 20s, with the start of the dry season bringing great conditions across the islands. It is a brilliant time for exploring and island hopping.
Why it works for honeymooners:
Each island offers something different, so you can create a honeymoon that feels completely unique. It is perfect for couples who want variety and a bit of adventure.
Costa Rica

April is the final month of the dry season, with temperatures around 27 to 32 degrees and plenty of sunshine. Conditions are ideal for exploring both rainforest and coast.
Why it works for honeymooners:
It is for couples who want something a little different. Wildlife, adventure, and beautiful scenery all in one trip. It feels exciting as well as relaxing.
Why April works so well
April is one of those months where everything just comes together. You get better value in many destinations, fewer crowds than peak summer and excellent weather across multiple regions.
It is also a time where nature really shows off, from cherry blossoms to safari sightings and spring landscapes. It is calm, beautiful, and perfectly timed.
