Nikki's Blog: Palladium Hotels in Playa Mujeres, Cancun

If you are going to travel for ten hours to Mexico, it makes sense to choose a top notch hotel, such as Palladium in Costa Mujeres, which is made up of three hotels: Grand Palladium, Family Selection and the adult-only TRS Coral.

This hotel complex covers a large area but is designed so that wherever you stay it retains an intimacy that enhances your stay.

There are a wide variety of restaurants from fine dining to sports bars which means you can eat out at a different restaurant each night and amazingly 24 hours a day. There is a good selection of wine, and fizz is included too, which pairs nicely with the lobster served at Helios!

Travelling around the site can be done on foot, or by calling up a golf buggy or by taking a water taxi that sails up and down the waterway that runs through the whole site. This is especially romantic at night!

We loved the walk to the wide open beach with its waiter service - pure indulgence.

Talking about indulgence, the incredible Zentropia Spa was a temple to hedonism with its ice room, thermal pools and massage facilities. We spent hours sampling all its delights and loved the wine inspired massage oils!

In the evenings, it's nice to have an excuse to dress up so a visit to Chic is a must. This is a top notch cabaret show with dinner within the hotels grounds.

There are lots of organised activities by the People of Palladium (POP) from pool side games and entertainment to exercise classes and tequila tasting. For tennis lovers, there is of course the Rafael Nadal Tennis Centre.

Normally we don’t like to get involved in over touristy attractions but Xoximilco (worth 300 points on a scrabble board) comes highly recommended.

The concept is quite straightforward really, with 20 brightly coloured and decorated boats all with fun loving crews who fill each of the boats with happy people and offer them food and copious amounts of tequila.

The boats follow a route around a maze of waterways stopping every so often to listen to Mariachi bands playing or take on more food. It’s as simple as that but oh so much fun!

The fun and laughter we had on board carried on when we returned to the hotel and the sun was rising before we went to bed!

Our week in Mexico flew by and we had a great time. It was the choice of hotel that certainly proved to be a winner. You can see why TRS Coral is a leading hotel of the world.
