Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort, Mauritius

I spent 30 days enjoying Le Telfair and I can recommend it to anyone that enjoys fine dining, personalised service and all in an environment that epitomises the beauty of Mauritius.

The resort is situated on the unspoilt south coast within 2,500 hectares of preserved park land and at its centre is a 19th century chateau nestling within the 18 hole golf course.

Le Telfair is designed as a quiet village and has 158 spacious suites and 20 separate villas all within easy reach of the sandy beach, the lagoon and 12 restaurants and bars. Six of these are situated in Heritage Awali, Le Telfair's sister hotel within the same site.

Le Telfair offers so much, including its newly renovated Heritage C Beach Club offering good food and entertainment all situated around a family pool. The beach club is also the home of the resort's water-based activity centre.

I made good use of the wide range of complimentary water sports and especially enjoyed the speedboat that took us out of the lagoon, through the surf and onto the ocean to swim with the dolphins. (Some activities are at an extra charge).

For relaxation, the Seven Colours spa treatments are unashamedly indulgent and not to be missed.

I particularly enjoyed spending my evenings in the Cavendish bar, with its colonial feel offering an excellent choice of cocktails, Champagne, a wide range of rums and nightly musical entertainment.

The 18 hole golf course and its little sister the 9 hole par 3 course were great fun as was the club house which is open to all guests.

One of the highlights was my 50th birthday meal at the 19th century Château, the mansion at the centre of the historic plantation. The gourmet meal, Champagne and opulent surroundings were memorable and very affordable. It is an experience everyone should enjoy whenever they stay in or near Le Telfair.

Heritage is proud of its connection within the local area and the nearby nature reserve of 13, 000 hectares is a sanctuary for indigenous flora and fauna and can be enjoyed by trekking, hiking, quadbike, cycling or just strolling along the guided pathways.

Le Telfair has everything and more and I will be returning again to experience all it has to offer!
