Cruising with Quark Expeditions

As the leader in polar adventures, Quark Expeditions explores the polar regions differently from everyone else. When you travel with them you are exploring alongside the most experienced polar experts on earth, setting foot where few ever will, and doing what few dream. With Quark Expeditions, you won’t just be on holiday – you’ll be on the expedition of a lifetime.

Quark Expeditions was founded in 1985 and specialises in polar cruises to both the North and South Poles. In 2012, the company pledged that it was offering the first carbon neutral polar expeditions and to this day it strives to support the fragile eco systems it visits.

By choosing Quark, you can become one of the first travellers to venture to 66 degrees and 33 S which takes you beyond the Antarctic Circle.

Quark Expeditions now boasts the largest polar class fleet of any polar operator and offers incredible voyages on its ice strengthened vessels.

The entire Quark fleet takes you to places ordinary cruise companies wouldn’t dream of going. Antarctica has been inspiring explorers for centuries and now you can discover why.

World Explorer is the first all-suites, all-balcony ice class ship and the service provided on board is the type available only at premium hotels.

The ship provides plenty of areas inside and out to witness the incredible Antarctic wildlife or simply watch the world pass by. Enjoy the spacious domed observation lounge with panoramic views. Visit the library or theatre to further your knowledge. If you need to exercise, try the outdoor running track, gym or heated outdoor pool and then indulge yourself in the spa.

Other ships include the Ultramarine, Ocean Adventurer and Ocean Diamond - all with differing amenities available.

Quark offers adventure beyond the ship. The zodiac - a small rubber boat - takes you to places the ship can’t access. Hiking is supervised by experienced staff and warm protective walking gear is provided.

If you are feeling particularly brave, you can take a polar plunge into the ice cold water of the Antarctic from the side of the ship.

Back on board, wildlife presentations and support with photography are also part of the experience. There is also the opportunity to pre-book sea kayaking, and for the less experienced explorer, sit on top kayaks are available.

Join an unforgettable expedition in the polar regions, where you’ll spot polar bears hunting on ice floes in Spitsbergen, witness king penguin rookeries on the Salisbury Plains in South Georgia and enjoy riveting lectures from Polar experts onboard your own vessel as you glide past immense cobalt blue icebergs.

Quark expedition leaders are all experts in their field and receive comprehensive training at the Quark Academy which ensures you are in safe hands.

One constant on board is that you will enjoy three delicious meals daily. Beer and wine is served with dinner, and tea and coffee are available around the clock. There is also a bar available.

Quark Expeditions embraces the beauty and majesty of polar travel and truly offers an experience of a lifetime.
