Client Blog: Travelling to Lake Garda during Covid-19, Trevor

It is always lovely when other customers recommend you, and that’s how Trevor and I met. A couple of years ago a mutual friend and customer recommended me to Trevor, and I planned and booked his family a trip to Barcelona in April 2019.

Many years ago, Trevor and his wife Heather travelled to Italy and Lake Garda and loved it. They decided they wanted to take their children to Italy to share their passion for the area. So by September 2019 their holiday was now booked for summer 2020!

Then Covid-19 struck and in the months, weeks and days leading up to their holiday, it was a case of will it or won’t it happen, and there were many calls, texts and emails exchanged.

We all remained positive and I am delighted to say their family holiday was a huge success, and the girls are now as much in love with Italy as their parents.

In September 2019, Nikki booked our 2020 holiday to a small resort called Torri Del Benaco on the eastern shores of Lake Garda.

Little did we realise at the time, what a rollercoaster ride it would be!

In these uncertain times, we felt it important to contact Nikki for advice and support. Nikki was always on hand to answer any questions and two weeks before departure, we were very grateful we had, as she had managed to secure new flights after our initial airline carrier had cancelled.

The airports were well organised and Nikki had pre-booked our transfers to and from our accommodation, which made life so much easier.

Our choice of Torri Del Benaco is one of the smaller resorts situated between Garda and Malcesine. There are plenty of excellent restaurants dotted around the two main squares and along the shores of the lake. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed and the views onto the lake are simply stunning.

Our apartments were very modern with air conditioning in each room – much needed as the temperature was in the low 30s every day.

We had access to a decent size pool, ideal for either swimming or chilling.

The town was only a short distance away and the pleasant stroll alongside the lake was a lovely way to get there.

A must visit is Venice which is only a couple of hours drive away - we chose an organised trip.

We also took the cable car to the top of Monte Baldo where you have simply stunning views of the lake and surrounding areas.

To visit other places around the lake, we made a short bus journey to Garda where there are regular ferry services to all the main resorts - Sirmione was our favourite.

A final recommendation would be a visit to the local tourist office early in your stay to find out what is going on. We found this really useful when organising our days out.

Throughout our stay, we found everyone to be very aware of Covid protocols and so it had very little impact on a hugely enjoyable holiday. Our girls have developed a love of Italy and we shall certainly return.
